First off, I am VERY particular about quality and authenticity. Prices are reasonable for the generous portions and the food is delicious! The beef patty was my fave and I love that it's also a grocery store and I can find specialty items not easily found in Charlotte. Highly recommended.

Loooooooooove this place. I was in the area and randomly stopped by on a Monday afternoon to get something to eat. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but I instantly loved this place. It reminded me of places I used to visit with my mom. The staff were super friendly and had me laughing. I didn't have much time so I ordered pies and mac and cheese. The reason why I only gave it 3 stars was because service was a bit slow and the mac and cheese left a lot to be desired. Although I didn't love the mac and cheese, the pies were really good. I would definitely go back to try some of the other food.

Really not great at all.
We placed a pickup order and even from the time we called in were pretty much rushed off the phone. No real surprise that our order when we got there was missing items but we didn't want to be a hassle so we took it.
We had the jerk chicken meal with fried plantains, rice and peas and steamed cabbage, as well as the curry chicken with rice and peas and steamed cabbage.
The meat at this place is VERY bony. Like tons of small bones throughout, be careful when eating. The chicken is also very dry. The plantains are soggy and leave a lot to be desired. The rice and peas and cabbage are just kind of meh, it's hard to really do anything with those I suppose.
On the upside, it was $17 for a pretty good amount of good, unfortunately none of it tasted all that great.
We were feeling adventurous and wanted to try something new. If you're feeling the same, I'd look elsewhere. -

Call ahead!
Teachers get ZERO time to actually enjoy lunch daily. On a half day we decided to come over for roti because...IT'S DELICIOUS! One person in the group asked "should we call it in?" Well, I believe it was I who made the executive decision to say "no", figuring it couldn't possibly take that long. Well, it did. I was in the meeting inhaling vegetable roti while others watched...SO WHAT! It was good too! I literally ate the entire thing.
Typically, I would give two stars when I have to wait because, I really do not like waiting. But this place was worth it. It's like a mini grocery store with everything you could possibly need to make any kind of West Indian dish. They have all kinds of spices and drinks. Now I know where to go to get ingredients I would not find in regular grocery stores.
Anyway, you need to give this place a try. I will definitely be back...after I've place my order via phone first! -

Yea mon!!!!! I love this place! They have the best stew chicken in all of Charlotte! It's right down the street from my job so I tend to patronize here on my lunch break from time to time. I do recommend calling ahead and placing an order. Just less time you have to spend waiting to get your food. Especially if you are working with limited time.
Outside of stew chicken I've had the curry chicken, beef patty and curry chicken patty. Curry was not a favorite for me but the stew chicken will knock your socks off. It's also a grocery store with all your island needs. Check em out!
